Designing and creating the skate was a lot of fun and I've detailed that process pretty thoroughly in this blog post.

The blockthrough, layout, animation, modelling, texturing, lighting, and compositing of the title sequence is explained here in probably one of the longest posts I've ever written, it goes through the more interesting techniques I used throughout the duration of the project including but not limited to:

  • Creating geometry from curves
  • Using IES profiles for light falloff
  • Using advanced Mental Ray environmental lighting features
  • Compositing a huge crowd in 2.5D using After Effects
